    Derivative estimation of triangular patch by using cubic least square method

    Smooth surface reconstruction of scattered data built from Delaunay triangulation need the partial derivatives to be defined at the vertices of the triangles for all the data points. Partial derivatives at the vertices of triangular elements and at the midpoint of each side usually are unavailable therefore it is a needed to approximate the derivatives information at the vertices and at the midpoint of each side. The common method use to estimate partial derivatives was the quadratic approximation of least square method. This research focused to estimate partial derivatives by using cubic approximation of least square method and compare the surface obtained between quadratic and cubic approximation. The research also implement the use of interpolating surface of cubic Bezier triangular patch. The result of the study shows comparison of interpolating surface produced by different type of functions for quadratic and cubic least square. The maximum and minimum error was also calculated and maximum error between quadratic and cubic least square was generated when using saddle function while the minimum error is on the exponential function

    Robust, non-intrusive human eye detection problem has been a fundamental and challenging problem for computer vision area. Not only it is a problem of its own, it can be used to ease the problem of finding the locations of other facial features for recognition tasks and human-computer interaction purposes as well. Many previous works have the capability of determining the locations of the human eyes but the main task in this paper is not only a vision system with eye detection capability.Our aim is to design a real-time face tracker system and iris localization using edge point detection method indicates from image processing and circle fitting technique. As a result, our eye tracker system was successfully implemented using non-intrusive webcam with less error

    The intent of this book’s conception is to present research work using a user centered design approach. Due to space constraints, the story of the journey, included in this book is relatively brief.     A brief review on vessel extraction and tracking methods

    Extracting an accurate skeletal representation of coronary arteries is an important step for subsequent analysis of angiography images such as image registration and 3D reconstruction of the arterial tree. This step is usually performed by enhancing vessel-like objects in the image, in order to differentiate between blood vessels and background, followed by applying the thinning algorithm to obtain the final output. Another approach is direct extraction of centerline points using exploratory tracing algorithm preceded by a seed point detection schema to provide a set of reliable starting points for the tracing algorithm. A large number of methods fall in these two approaches and this paper aims to contrast them through a brief review of their innate characteristics, associated limitations and current challenges and issues

    Content-based image retrieval based on color-spatial features

    A novel technique for Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) that employs both the color and spatial information of images is proposed. A maximum of three dominant color regions in an image together with its respective coordinates of the Minimum-Bounding Rectangle (MBR) are first extracted. Next, the Sub-Block technique is then used to determine the location of the dominant regions by comparing the coordinates of the regions MBR with the four corners of the center of the location map. The cell number that is maximally covered by the region is supposedly to be assigned as the location index. However, the Sub-Block technique is not reliable because in most cases, the location index assigned is not the cell number that is maximally covered by the region and sometimes a region does not overlap with the cell number assigned at all. The effectiveness of this technique has been improved using the Improved Sub-Block technique by taking into consideration the total horizontal and vertical distances of a region at each location where it overlaps. The color-spatial technique is accessed on a Query-by- Example CBIR system consisting of 900 images. From the experiments it is shown that retrieval effectiveness has been significantly improved by 85.86%

    A review on gesture recognition technology in children's interactive storybook

    Over the past few years, gesture recognition has made its debut in education and virtual reality environment. This paper reviews the current literature in gesture recognition technology for interactive storybooks and the existing methods and challenges for this technology. A conceptual framework is proposed to resolve two main challenges that have been reviewed from previous work: to provide a novel interaction to young children and to ensure accuracy of gesture when using gesture based input sensor. The proposed method is the future work which provides the direction towards developing virtual reality storybooks for children

    Estimation of noise in gray-scale and colored images using median absolute deviation (MAD)

    This paper presents a new algorithm for estimation of noise (i.e., level of noise) in both gray-scale and color images (GSI, CI). The new technique is called median-absolute deviation (MAD). This technique does require an explicit estimation of the noise level or the signal to noise ratio (SNR), which is usually needed in most of the popular enhancement methods. Performance of the proposed method is evaluated on noisy images in real conditions and with artificial noise

    Systematic review on knowledge and awareness of breast cancer and risk factors among young women

    Introduction: Breast cancer is considered the primary cancer to affect women according to the global context. Due to its crucial escalation, it has become vital to inform the general population regarding breast cancer symptoms, risk factors and earlier detection methods. The main aim of the present study is to conduct a systematic review of breast cancer and the risk factors affecting young adult women. Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out to garner global studies on breast cancer risk factors as well as to understand the degree to which breast cancer and its associated risk factors are understood. The primary study included the exploration of databases and journal websites, PubMed, Google Scholar and Medline. The articles studied for the review was focused on the printed original English articles from the year 2008 to December, 2017. This review highlights the necessity for further studies regarding knowledge of breast cancer and its risk factors among young adult women are understood. Conclusion: Knowledge about breast cancer and its risk factors among young women was inadequate. Furthermore, cultural sensitivities should be adjusted to ensure optimal awareness among the public, in particular teenagers and young adult women. Intensive educational campaigns should be planned to increase breast cancer awareness in order to minimize the observed deficit of knowledge. The role of prevention and procedures to screen breast examinations in clinics as well as mammography should all be highlighted in order to achieve these goals and obtain the required data

    Dominant colour descriptor with spatial information for content-based image retrieval

    An important problem in colour Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is the lack of an effective way to represent both the colour and spatial information of an image. In order to solve this problem, a new dominant colour descriptor that employs spatial information of image is proposed. A maximum of three dominant colour regions in an image together with their respective coordinates of the Minimum-Bounding Rectangle (MBR) are first extracted using the Colour-based Dominant Region segmentation. The Improved Sub-block technique is then used to determine the location of the dominant colour regions by taking into consideration the total horizontal and vertical distances of a region at each location where it overlaps. A Query-by-Example CBIR system implementing the colour-spatial technique is developed. Experimental studies on an image database consisting of 900 images are conducted. From the experiments, it is evident that retrieval effectiveness has significantly improved by 85.86%
